i didn't know thomas as well as id have liked to, i knew him for 3 years even though i didn't know him that well i find myself with tears in my eyes. i may not have knwon him that well. but i miss him. one thing stands clear in my mind that he was loved and cared for which is evident from these comments which have been made.
may the people who did this be brought to justice and soon. May you be at peace Thomas.Where ever you are. |

This was such a sad, tragic and devastating situation for Thomas' family, friends and community. It makes me feel sick and disgusted that there are people who are capable of such actions. It is worrying that we thought we lived in a safe and nice part of Belfast but it just shows you that these sort of people exist everywhere and more shockingly, so close to home.
The only comforting thing is that Thomas has gone to a better place where he cannot be harmed but he will missed so much, even by people who did not know him. Hopefully this will bring our community together and make people more aware of this tragic event. Rest In Peace xxx |

I also watched 'songs of praise' on Sunday and was deeply moved by the story of Thomas, but also inspired and truly humbled by his wonderful family. My twin sons are nearly 15 and this is such an exciting time for me as their Mother. . .seeing their personalities develop, listening to their hopes and dreams, watching their small steps into our adult world.I cannot imagine how I would feel to have that taken away from me.I have cried so much for Thomas, yet I didnt even know him. Please know Mr and Mrs Devlin that there are people thinking of you and your family.Your dignity and strength humbles us all.Your son was a truly beautiful, beautiful boy xx |

Songs of Praise was extremely sad, it was very moving listening to Penny and Jim and seeing the photographs of Thomas - they convey he was a happy child and good fun too. (as do all the lovely photographs on this site)
It's important that Thomas's death and the circumstances and horrible way in which he met his death are continually highlighted and kept in the public eye. May the Devlin family gain the strength to keep going and continue the good they are doing for the future of Thomas's generation. It's a credit to Thomas that Iron Maiden are supporting the family. |

I was deeply touched by your gentle but positive contribution to the BBC Songs of Praise programme today. You may be sure that Dev, your darling son, who now 'knows all' and most especially how much you love him will be so proud of this important work and example of reconcilliation you are undertaking.
On St Patrick's Day you, your family and of course Thomas will be remembered at our special Mass and I propose organising a collection in order that a token donation may be offered towards the sculpture. With every good wish Iain MacFirbhisigh (Rev) Deacon St Mary & St Peter's Church St Helier JERSEY |

Ive known Thomas for years but really only through my sis and Johnny did i get to know him properly. When we sang at his funeral we said our goodbyes but nothing about Dev will be forgotten. He truely has gone to the home of the brave, but not just because of his unnecessary killing but because of who he was,a fella with a good heart and sense of humour to match. Rest in peace xxx |
